The UK’s leading digital and financial inclusion education provider, We Are Digital, has introduced a new service to help individuals already living in Britain apply for UK immigration online. UKVI Assisted Digital, launched by the Warwickshire-based company, has been rolled out across more than 40 libraries nationwide.
Delivered in collaboration with the Society of Chief Librarians, the Scottish Library & Information Council and Migrant Help UK, the Assisted Digital service is offered to customers who do not have the appropriate IT resources, skills or confidence to complete an online immigration application form.
Assisted Digital has been designed to meet all possible needs of service users. Support offered by the programme includes a telephone helpline and face-to-face meetings with advisors at the library. We Are Digital also provides home tutoring for applicants looking to complete an online application form.
Matthew Adam, CEO of We Are Digital, commented: “There are more than one million in-country visa applications each year. Of these, we estimate that around 10,000 applications may require some form of digital support. Working in partnership with libraries across the UK, Assisted Digital is aimed at people who need to make use of an online service but cannot do so on their own, be that down to a lack of confidence or trouble accessing IT resources.
“While training providers can’t offer immigration advice, they can support the applicant to enable them to complete the form themselves, and help them to understand the relevant documents they will need to complete the process. Our aim is to help users to build their confidence, as well as providing them with a greater understanding of the web.”
